My Story
My earlier work history as an educator, psychological examiner, and then attorney brought me to my current love for the creative process. Even though I won an art competition in the first grade; I had little interest in painting. I took no art classes in school and dropped out of a private class my husband and I took in my 30s. I did finish a picture of my Grandmother's front porch during the class which hung in her home until her death.
The inspiration for my work is the glory of God and the beauty in His creation. My art has been included in coloring books and calendars. I have placed best in class in juried art competitions. My creations have been exhibited at the Novadell Steakhouse, KY, Black Mountain, NC, The Sanctuary, Franklin, TN, the Hopkinsville Art Gallery, KY, in college art galleries, as well as being commissioned by F&M Bank.
I teach both private and group classes in the medium of alcohol ink and love spending time with creative people including my three grandchildren, ages 14, 16, and 18. You can often find me painting with my two kitties curled up quietly sleeping in my studio.
I create art pieces that invite the viewers to be a part of the story. Transformation of a canvas from dark to light, bland to colorful, empty to full fascinates me. My ultimate joy is to see a viewer's eyes fixed upon my art piece as he or she sees stories and items that I had not consciously painted. The viewer then becomes part of the story of the art!
