Pam Boyd –Apiarists & Artist

Pam's earlier years in education, psychology, and law brought her to her current love for the creative process and hobby farm life. Although she has sold large pieces of art and has won multiple awards for her art, the joy of creating is what keeps her going.

Pam loves honey bees. Bees are so interesting and there is nothing like pure honey straight from a local hive. Pam only has one hive, but her bees stayed busy and produced an abundance of honey this year. An often quoted interesting bee fact is: “It takes about 60,000 bees, collectively traveling up to 55,000 miles and visiting more than 2 million flowers, to gather enough nectar to make one pound of honey.”

Many of Pam's art works contain bee pictures. As she paints, time stops, she says. "There are no worries or thoughts of yesterday or tomorrow or what’s for dinner as the colors flow. Although I also work with acrylic and water color, I especially am drawn to the medium of alcohol ink. I often call my alcohol ink paintings, “God Art”, because they seem to paint themselves. I just look for what’s there and then bring out the details." You can often find her painting at her table with her dog, Kingston, sleeping on the carpet by her side.
